Attio to HubSpot migration
Last updated: 2026-10-21 · Reviewed by Noah Charak, Managing Director
Checkpoint GTM, a Berlin-based HubSpot Platinum Partner, moves Seed to Series B B2B SaaS teams from Attio to HubSpot when a flexible, founder-built workspace has to carry marketing, sales and board reporting on one platform. An Attio migration usually fits inside a standard 6–10 week HubSpot implementation; moves with several integrations take 12–16 weeks. Migrations start from €15K, scoped as a fixed project before work starts, and a standard Sales + Marketing Hub implementation runs €15K–€50K. What moves: people, companies, deals, notes, tasks and the data held on list entries, plus rebuilt automations, team training and 30 days of hypercare.

How do Attio objects map to HubSpot?
Attio is built on flexible objects, attributes and lists. HubSpot is built on standard CRM objects, properties, pipelines and associations. Most of the work is deciding where each Attio structure should land, not copying it.
| In Attio | In HubSpot | Moves cleanly? | What we do |
|---|---|---|---|
| People | Contacts | Yes | Attributes map to contact properties. Email address is the matching key in HubSpot, so people without an email need a matching rule before import. |
| Companies | Companies | Yes | Domain is the matching key on both sides. Attio and HubSpot both fill company data automatically, so we decide which source wins for each field. |
| Deals and their status attribute | Deals in a deal pipeline | Mostly | Status values become deal stages. Each stage gets a written definition with entry and exit criteria before it is mapped. |
| Lists and list-entry attributes | No direct equivalent | No | HubSpot lists hold memberships, not data. A stage, score or owner stored on an Attio list entry moves to a property, a pipeline or an association, decided list by list. |
| Custom objects | Custom objects, or standard objects with associations | Partly | HubSpot custom objects need an Enterprise edition. Many Attio custom objects work better as a group of properties or a labelled association. |
| Record-reference attributes | Associations with labels | Partly | Each relationship becomes an association, and what the link means (investor, partner, champion) moves into an association label. |
| Notes and tasks | Notes and tasks on the record timeline | Yes | Imported with their original dates and linked to the right contact, company or deal. |
| Synced email and calendar history | Connected inboxes and calendars | No | Reps reconnect their inboxes in HubSpot. We agree up front which past interactions come across as logged activity. |
| Workflows and automations | HubSpot workflows | No | Rebuilt against the new property model, with every automated field traceable to a trigger the team can explain. |
How does an Attio to HubSpot migration run?
Five phases, the same order every time. Attio stays live until cutover.
Audit
Inventory every Attio object, attribute, list and automation, with who reads each one and when it was last used.
Plan
We check HubSpot's automatic company creation setting before go-live, so new contacts don't spawn duplicate companies.
Migrate
Build the portal while Attio stays live, run test imports, and reconcile record counts and associations before the real cutover.
Rebuild
Recreate automations, views and reports in HubSpot, and add the lifecycle stages, forms and attribution Attio did not hold.
Launch
Walk one real record from first touch to closed deal in a timed dry run, train the team, then support the first 30 days after go-live.
What goes wrong in Attio to HubSpot migrations?
Attio's flexibility is why teams like it, and it is also where migrations lose data or meaning.
Data trapped in lists
In Attio, important fields often live on list entries rather than on the record itself. Export only the records and those fields are gone. We inventory every list and its attributes before mapping.
A flexible schema with no definitions
A flexible workspace grows attributes fast. Without a keep, edit or delete decision on each one, they all arrive in HubSpot as properties nobody owns.
Two sources for the same company data
If nobody decides whether Attio's values or HubSpot's own company data wins, reps see values they cannot trace to a source and stop trusting the record.
Copying records but not building the reason for the move
Most Attio teams move to bring marketing onto the same platform. If the project only copies records, the lifecycle stages, forms and attribution that justified the move never get built.
Where we have done this
For a Berlin VC we standardised eight portfolio companies on HubSpot; one ran on Attio and two on Pipedrive, and we migrated all three. Each company got a standard pipeline, property schema and dashboards, so the platform team could compare them side by side.
The first portfolio dashboard was live at the six-week mark, and manual board reporting dropped from 8–15 hours to under one hour per company per month.

Attio to HubSpot migration questions
How long does an Attio to HubSpot migration take?
An Attio migration usually fits inside a standard HubSpot implementation of 6–10 weeks from kickoff to launch. Moves with several integrations, or a merge with a second CRM, take 12–16 weeks. The data move itself is short; the audit and mapping take most of the time.
How much does an Attio to HubSpot migration cost?
Migrations start from €15K. Each one is scoped as a fixed project before work starts, and a standard Sales + Marketing Hub implementation runs €15K–€50K. The main cost drivers are the number of lists and custom objects, the integrations and how much history you keep. All prices excl. VAT.
What happens to Attio lists in HubSpot?
HubSpot has lists too, but they hold memberships, not data. Any attribute stored on an Attio list entry has to move to a property on the record, a pipeline stage or an association. We decide this list by list during the audit.
Do we need HubSpot Enterprise for our Attio custom objects?
Only if the custom object really needs to be its own object. HubSpot custom objects require an Enterprise edition. Many Attio custom objects work as a group of properties or a labelled association on a standard object, which keeps you on a lower edition.
Will our email and meeting history come across from Attio?
Not automatically. Attio syncs email and calendar data from connected accounts, and that history stays with the mailbox. Reps connect their inboxes and calendars to HubSpot, and we agree which past interactions are imported as logged activity, so nobody has to reopen Attio to find context.
Can we keep using Attio during the migration?
Yes. We build the HubSpot portal while Attio stays live, run test imports, and cut over on a planned date after a timed dry run of the full customer journey. Your team keeps selling in Attio until cutover day.
